It is a great pleasure for us to take part in your contest. It was fun for Billie and I to share ideas, and to cook together. The basic recipe is your recipe, as it works so well, but we have made a “spicy but sweet” filling with only ingredients that we love (broccoli, mango and coriander leaves).

Khasta kachori is a delicacy from north India. Khasta kachori is a spicy puffed pastry. Kachories are made with a variety of different filling, and I have many recipes for Khasta Kachori. They are my favorite over samosa. Maybe one of the reasons is I can prepare them even a few days before and can be served at room temperature and served many different ways, even serving as chaat. Traditionally kachori is sold at HALWAI (a sweet and snack shop). Today, I am using spicy besan filling. These mouthwatering Kachories can be served as a snack, chaat or part of the main meal, making the meal exotic.

Now, here is the recipe which talks about vegetarian cabbage samosa which is not fried and baked but a healthy, delicious, colorful, and nutritious and has the same appeal of real Samosas. Cabbage Samosas are made with cabbage leaves filled with salad. It is served with red chutney made from bell pepper. It is a simple tongue tickling chutney recipe that is tangy and goes well with all type of snacks and lunch items. The process is relatively simple. It’s good and easy to do. Surely the kids would love it.

Samosa Tokri Chat

User Submitted Recipes, , , ,

It took me quite some time to think of a good name for this dish. I used samosa’s outer covering to make these small tokris and used potato-mattar subji (vegetable) as a filling. Though this dish is using same ingredients as a samosa, it is healthier because I have baked those small containers (tokris) instead of deep frying them. These baked tokris turn out to be quite tasty and you might even find them better than the deep fried versions.
