Contest 2012 February

This month’s contest is another easy one. I very much enjoyed reading all the valentine’s day stories last year and I would like to do the same this year. All you have to do is post your story to the disucussion forum on the Valentine’s Day topic that I have created.

You needn’t send any photos for the contest. I just want to hear your valentine’s story – what did you do for your husband, wife, girl/boyfriend, or other loved one? If you cooked something, please describe the menu that you prepared. Did you surprise your loved one? The more details, the better!

The winners will be selected randomly from all the forum post entries.

Below is my checklist:

  • You will not have email me anything this time. You can simply leave a posting on the Valentine’s day forum topic.
  • If you are creating a new account for the forum, please enter your email address so that I can contact you after the contest is over. Don’t worry, your email address will not be public (only I will be able to see it).
  • The deadline is Februrary 24th.
  • The winner will be featured on the homepage and a link to their website (if available).

1st Prize: $100 gift certificate from Amazon.com
2nd Prize: $25 gift certificate from Amazon.com

  1. I had lots of plans for this valentine..But unexpectedly two families visited our house..So the whole day went off being cooking and serving for them..Since we all have kids of same age groups the day went being stopping their fight for toys…We all went for dinner outside and returned home full..But my whole day went kind of sad since i couldnt make anything special for my hubby.Since he felt very heavy he saked me for some carbonated drink…Suddenly an idea striked for me ..I made some apple lemonade for him and hot choclate microwave version and coriander seeds tea from raks kitchen..Thats it lighted up some candles and ended our day with candle light tea party…it was an unexpected but very good surprise for my hubby for satisfying his tastes bud and heart within 15 min stime gapp…

  2. My boyfriend and I usually don’t give each other Valentine’s Day presents, because we are on a budget usually and try to save money to buy bigger more important stuff, but this time I decided to surprise him. I wrapped an empty shoe box with gift paper and started filling it with different things he likes a couple of weeks before the holiday. I put in some chocolates, french cheese, fruits, drinks, even some clothes and fitness weights. I didn’t expect a present from him, as we have agreed not to exchange gifts, but when we went to the restaurant it turned out he decided to surprise me too – he brought me a large amount of my most favourite chocolate eggs! We were both very excited and happy and had a great evening with some really good vegetarian sushi in the restaurant.

  3. My husband has a work deadline on Valentine’s day. I had lots of plan for that evening and I am sure he had in his mind too but he ended up working whole night. To celebrate our valentine in a different way, I was up whole night pretending to have lots of office work too so that he does not feel lonely and sad. Next day evening he got me my fav cake from fav bakery and I got him flowers!! I think the gesture matters the most..what a beautiful Valentine when we could spend the whole night together for each other, without sleeping for a moment! 🙂

  4. This Valentine’s my wife and I weren’t sure how we wanted to celebrate…we flip-flopped between going out on the town and eating at a ritzy restaurant and just staying home and doing nothing. We ended up doing neither…I made homemade tacos, we both ate dinner in our pajamas, and then we exchanged gifts. I got her jewelry…she got me LEGOs!!! We ended up staying home and playing LEGOs into the wee hours of the night.

    I love my wife.

  5. I know that you’ve been very busy lately, but do you think you could give the results and next month’s contest very soon after the deadline (for all of us who love cooking your recipes.)?
